About Tusca Oka
Tusca Oka was founded on a passion for training exceptional retrievers—a journey that began in 1998 while the owner was still in college. What started with training a single dog quickly grew into a dedicated pursuit, driven by hands-on experience, early success in hunt tests, and a deep commitment to developing skilled hunting companions.
The name “Tusca Oka” comes from the Choctaw language, meaning “water warrior.” It reflects the core qualities every great retriever should possess—strength, intelligence, and confidence in the water.
Our Facility & Care
Today, Tusca Oka operates on a 440-acre property designed to provide an ideal training environment. The grounds include five ponds and two duck holes, allowing dogs to train in realistic and diverse hunting conditions year-round.
The kennel features two separate runs with 20 open-air kennels, each equipped with covered roofing and fans for comfort. Additional amenities include airing yards and an on-site barn with a fully equipped apartment for visiting owners.
To support each dog’s health and well-being, we provide high-quality food, along with heartworm medication and flea and tick prevention. Owners are also welcome to supply their own preferred food or care products.
