Puppy Training Tips
Starting your puppy on the right path makes all the difference in long-term success as a hunting and family companion. Keep training simple, consistent, and positive.
- Start retrieving in a hallway or small, confined space to encourage the puppy to bring the object back naturally.
- Introduce the leash gradually and always make it a positive experience.
- Keep training sessions very short—around 5 minutes is ideal. Multiple short sessions (morning and evening) are more effective than one long session.
- Crate train early to support potty training and help establish routine and structure.
- Socialize your puppy by exposing them to new environments. If possible, let them accompany you in everyday situations to build confidence and experience.
- Be mindful of weather conditions—young puppies should not be overworked in extreme heat or cold.
